Thread: Other anime vs love hina

Hi this thread is about how other anime compare to love hina and your recomendations of other series to watch. Please note, I am not a massive fan of absurbism and prefer plots and believable and or extrodinary charcacters.

Here's series I have watched/am watching

1. School rumble - funny however was hoping that the ex slacker would go with the cute rich blond. That tenma would go with that nice wee guy who liked her (not the one she liked who was mad!)

2. Elfien lied - not much like love hina but a great show. However the comments of people on veoh annoyed me. The story was one about how humans can be monsters and how monsters are human yet u still had people call nyauu "murder". Some sad people even said they believed in torture.

3. Air TV - great animee - best I have watched so far, also a greater percentage of posts were intelligent and or emotionally intelligent. Some one even pointed out a few subtle things I missed. I guess great shows attract more insightfull audiences.

4. Ah my goddess - a good series - Althought the little guy who had back luck it was hard to believe he didnt have a girlfriend as he was an expert motorbike racer!

5. Fate stay night - still to watch past ep 3, what I saw it was good - no spoilers please!

6. DNA angel - loved the show, although it was a little sad they couldnt see the strong inner strength of the male protagonist. He reminded me of me, good to see little guys getting the girl! (much like ah my goddess)

7. Bamboo Blade - watching just now, I have to say it looks like this one could be a great animee - multiple intresting stories to watch and so far the 2 episodes I have seen have had no absurdism in them! Will need to see if the rest of series can keep up with it. Those episodes were so good that even the crappy resolution couldnt stop my enjoyment of them. Ps where can u get a good stream with no crackles in the audio?

8. Some animee about a male cleaner with a woman boss - the biggest load of crap ever

9. Aya no ceres - great first few episodes then after down hill, yet again the guy I want to get the girl didnt! It was still worth a watch but too much men forcining them seleves on girl.

I agree with Akatsuki, ranking them would be wiser, because 5-6 of those series you've mentioned isn't even in the same category as LH, so comparing them isn't fair

Exactly. If you want to compare, at least do it with a good amount of similar harem series.

School Rumble is a good fit if you're a Love Hina fan. And of course, if you like LH, there's the obvious choice of NEGIMA, too. Here's a few others I'd suggest:

Ai Yori Aoshi: The show that gave rise at our local anime club to the phrase, "You got Tina Fostered!" When university student Kaoru Hanabishi leaves his very traditional family, he assumes he has also left his arranged marriage to Aoi Sakuraba. But when Aoi seeks him out, even though she is no longer bound by the arrangement, their love blossoms. Yes, it's a harem show, and yes, there's a hot springs episode. The series has a very satisfying ending, and if you want to read the manga, this is one harem series that actually pulls the trigger -- the final volume is an uncensored honeymoon episode!


Midori Days: is about former tough guy Seiji, known in his school for his "demon right hand" (for fighting, not fwapping). But it's hard to be a tough guy when you wake up one morning with a GIRL in place of your hand. Midori days isn't quite as much of a harem show, though its definitely romantic comedy, and there are certainly some cute babes running around.


Mahoromatic: This is, in my opinion, one of the best shows out there. And also one of the strangest. The title character, Mahoro, is a combat android, who after a career of faithful service, is given a choice -- she can remain in her battle armor, in which case she will only be functional for a matter of days. Or, she can have her armor removed, which will enable her power cell to remain operational for longer -- exactly how long, no one can say -- and pursue another life. Mahoro chooses the latter, and becomes a maid to Suguru Misato. Because of dark events in her past, Mahoro wants to spend her last days taking care of Suguru as best she can, in an attempt to make amends.

Spoiler

While this IS a harem show, with the requisite bevy of bouncy babes, Mahoromatic is also one of the deepest looks at grief and loss I've ever seen in any medium. It's good stuff, but not if you're looking for a Disney ending. Then again, if you're looking for a Disney ending, you're probably not watching anime.

Ammaranth, I think "Midori Days" has clear harem influences. In the manga, especially the tension between Midori and Takako is built in a very harem-like manner, and do not forget Shiori-chan!

I wouldn't disagree with that. Certainly, it would sit comfortably on the shelf with other harem titles. It didn't seem to have quite as large a cast of love interests as the average harem show, to me, at least. It has been quite a while since I've watched it. Not that I'd mind watching it again; it was quite good.

and ranking them wouldn't be the best either.
We all have our own likings, so not everyone would appreciate your comparisons or rankings

Anyway, i've seen like 600 anime and the only one i can remember with a male cleaner with a female boss, is that one episode of Golden Boy

Yeah i know, but i grew up with the stuff.
Plus i have quite a good memory, so one day i was bored and downloaded all the series that i've watched during my childhood
