Hmm well i guess Naru just isn't that loved.
Why though, she is a perfect example of a Tsundere and those are supposed to be popular.
Shy for win though!
Well, I guess the Tsundere's contrast between sweet and violent makes them hit or miss among the fans of a certain series.
Lets not forget that among our fandom, she is the devil responsible for our favorite characters failure to hook with the man they were looking for. I guess everybody that is not a Naru fan are rather bitter at her success despite her violent nature; including me.(-_-)

To be honest, I did not expect this topic to bring about this much activity. We are still an LH fan community, yay!
All right, let me try. I have not read more than short passages of the manga for a long, long time, so my impressions are biased by fandom interaction, fan art and stuff. This could be interesting. And it looks funny when I try consistently using given names.
1. Shinobu
2. Kanako
3. Mutsumi
4. Nyamo
5. Keitaro
6. Kuro
7. Kitsune
8. Su
9. Noriyasu
10. Haruka
11. Tama
12. Ema
13. Kimiaki
14. Gidget
15. Hinata
16. Motoko
17. Masayuki
18. Tsuruko
19. Sarah
I'm afraid I know too little about the personalities of the rest to rank them.

I never. Take that backIn my list Kitsune is second only to Kaolla. How's that make me think she's a bad char?
Sara is unloved, but I reckon she was an excellent addition to the series. Plus, she passed the taste test, so she must be goodBari bari otenba! Partners in mischief
I have no problem with you disliking Suu, but you included Naru on your list so your opinion should be less relevant than say...
...thisGood choices, but I swear this list is incomplete
slight point of note here. I differ in that I'm not bitter about my favourite characters not ending up "hooking" with the man they were after, because that just leaves them single and availableAlso, I'm mostly annoyed at the she-devil because she got more 'screen time' in the series than my faves did. Such a camera hog...
As if there wasn't one already?I remember several chapters where our kendoka was taking instruction from Kanako, and that only lead to a bigger rivalry than might otherwise have been the case
'course we are. Recent polls should have affirmed that point anyway
I'm jiggered to see you've voted Gidget on your list. Turtle powah! No Shippo though...

i see that kanako is generally held in higher regard. not that thats a bad think. my long dormant army of kendo-ka lovers are just that: dormant

From best to worst:
Motoko
Kanako
everyone else
Mutsumi
Motoko is the only character worth caring about~ Kanako is also pretty decent...and I guess I'm meh about most other characters, but something about Mutsumi just rubs me the wrong way.
don't let anyone tell you that you're not beautiful
even me, especially me
Nice one Toko =3
Anyway, i don't care about Naru ruining it for Kanako being together with Keitaro.
In all honestly, Naru fits him the best and Keitaro loves her the most, so i don't care Kanako isn't together with him.
I like Kanako for who she is not who she thinks of
Hahaha oh wow, this has been a while!
Well, I just watched the series over Christmas so I guess I'll reassess:
1. Naru
2. Motoko
3. Shinobu
4. Haruka
5. Kaolla
6. Mutsumi
7. Kitsune
8. Kanako
9. Mei
10. Tsuruko
The rest don't matter, really. Ah, memories!

Yeh, the anime pleasantly surprised me. I remembered it being worse; possibly I've just been watching a hell of a lot of tosh recently, but I don't think that's it. I think there're humorous subtleties in Love Hina that I hadn't caught before, either because of age or because I can understand the language better now, I'm not sure.
Either way, I much preferred Kaolla and Kitsune this time around! Great to hear a familiar Osaka accent![]()

Kitsune's "southern belle" English accent rankles with many viewers on here and around other forums, but I hoped her Osaka accent was authentic. Glad to have it confirmedAnd glad to see you're coming to your senses at last
Love Hina isn't the most subtle of series though. Can't believe you wrote that
Burn the witch!
No redeeming features whatsoever.![]()

The LH Anime has no redeeming qualities. Seriously, the anime is so diluted that became as bland as water compared to the Manga which did not hold back on its humor.
However, Kitsune with a Texan accent is rather funny to hear.(I kinda contradicted myself there about the redeeming qualities...) I must say that the Enclish dub of the LH anime would have been much funnier if everybody had ridiculous accents.
