I go with subcriptions if it's something I'm interested. That way I get an email stating if someone new has posted in that thread since the last time I had the browser open and connected to the net. I always get notifications. The actual thread stuff though I can usually remember when I've read it. Try closing all the internet windows and temporarily disconect the net. That might work. Though I don't know because I've never really paid attention to the new posts thing. So I don't know if that'll help. Oh wait I just re-read your statement. Umm that's a board setting. Nothing we have any control over. You might want to talk to style, and if not style try hina though he doesn't quite no as much as style-sama. Mainly because Style owns the forum and hina is only an admin. No offence to Hina-tama meant there.
QUOTING YOU: "My browser is Constantly logged in and doesn't log out or time out so I don't know what problem you're having. Do you check the 'remember me' check box?" *** I have tried checking the box, and it did help a bit. I did not have to log in again and again any more. However, a very important point to me is that I want to know which messages (posts) I have viewed and which ones are unread. On Finnish Simple Machines Forum boards, this has nothing to do with sessions. View a thread, it is marked as "read". Do not view it, it stays "unread" theoretically forever. On this vB board, however, I only get a list of messages unread since last session. That alone irritates me, but I could live with it. The problem is that every time I go inactive for 900 seconds, the list gets wiped out and starts from zero. "Remember me" does not help against that, so I prefer getting my whole session timed out; then I am sure to notice I just lost something.
