Thread: MGS Touch

MGS4 will be out on the iPhone and the iPod Touch. Just as the year is coming to an end, Konami let the secret out on Kojima’s mysterious homepage – and the next Metal Gear is… Metal Gear Solid Touch! According to kotaku.com, the iPhone and iPod versions of the game should be closely related to the MSG4 storyline. The first details out state that Metal Gear Solid Touch should have a total of eight levels and be played using the touchscreen.



When cryptic and ambiguous symbols began to appear on Hideo Kojima’s website, it caused a fair bit of confusion. The gaming community was certain that there were there to announce the release of MGS4 on the Xbox 360 (see our article MGS4: Are Exclusives finished as Konami considers an Xbox 360 Version?). These rumours have now been quashed. Kotaku.com states that on the iPhone version players will be able to score points which can later be exchanged for extras such as MGS4 wallpaper. Metal Gear Solid Touch is expected to be released at the spring of 2009.

I have an ipod touch, but im not getting this.

Meh.. Doesnt look to appealing. I'd rather actualy get to play the PS3 version.

The 360 has konami interest, but again Kojima has direct authority over his studio, and konami can't go doing anything about it without his support, and he doesn't want to just strip anything down, he'd only do an expanded game for 360, not a port. On top of that considering game file size .etc, you'd need to be using no more than 10 GB on your built in hard-drive, or have a large external hard drive, and a LOT of 360 owners use arcades or don't use External hard drives.

Almost every trip to my local game shop, i over hear someone asking why their hard drive doesn't carry 60GBs or buying new hard drives. Really think about it, each chapter would have 2 disks, and installation time would be much longer than the PS3's already worrying times. (At least you can note that the loading screen makes me want to smoke)

^This recreation had timestamps and nifty animated hate smilies that have been removed for obvious reasons. This quote cam right after I sent my MGS-freak fan friend the link posted above to the trailer. This was his response upon watching that horrid video.

What I failed to add to the quote was the discussion after this in which he yelled that we needed an iPhone emu to play this game. I bashed him with WHY!?'s which led to the quote every fan has to live by: "It's still a Metal Gear Game". Where that is true, no such emu exists, not to mention the game rides solely on touch, which a flat-panel LCD screen on a laptop cannot emulate.

Mini bump. Just got this today (didnt pay for it though, ha), well, its interesting, its not just "touch here to shoot here", which wouldve been pretty easy, instead you have to move the cursor around and then tap to shoot.

Im already on level 10 after like 30 minutes of playing. The only extras i've seen so far in the drebin shop are just wallpapers.

Its alright for free though, heh

EDIT: Beat it already, its only 12 levels long, covering mgs4 acts 1 through 3, after you beat it, theres a survival mode. Overall, its a good game, but it shouldn't cost more than 3 bucks due to its length

BTW just in case you didn't know, they released MGT expansion packs including 8 new maps a few weeks ago, free of charge, and including the all new survival mode, infinite levels and to up the challenge

There was also a 'lite' version released, also free of charge to give players a 'taste' of MGT to decide if it was what they wanted.

Personally I think that as far as iPod games go, there's not much more entertaining.

I have this game and its very not worth it
