MGS4 hits 4.5 Million sales

Konami reported its results for the April-December period with total revenues for the first nine months of the 2009 fiscal year grew 5.1 percent to $2.56 billion.

One of the top perdormers of course is still Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, released exclusively for PlayStation 3 in June last year, which sold more than 4.5 million units in 2008.

All things considered, Halo 3, with expansion packs is at 8.2 million sales currently, and was launched September 26, 2007; meaning that considering the gap in release dates, if MGS4 keeps this rate up, and MGO keeps on getting it's expansion acks, it coult be on track to beat 360's best selling game.

I personally didnt enjoy the game, heck I think the only reason it sold so much was because it had the words Metal Gear Solid and PS3 in the same sentence.

No no, your entitled to your opinion mr shadow negi. Although I did like the game, I didn't think it was great, it was just alright. The first 3 acts feel so disconnected to the ending bits that they couldve easily been removed and you wouldnt have missed anything.

And when you get to the good story parts (act 4 and 5), you realize theres not much gameplay there, so yeah, it was a bit underwhelming in my opinion. Im glad it did good though, cos that means we can get more mgs in the future, which will hopefully be really a great awesome game(s).

MGS 3 was here. MGS 4 is a loser.

Nah the game was decent, but just like every other major "blockbuster" title which was hyped to no end, its far below what people make it out to be. I tried MGO n found it to be somewhat fun but didnt keep my interest for long.

Anything with hype, is overhypped, first rule of life in general.

Shame about MGO though, hell even school doesn't stop me playing MGO thanks to MPO+.

I loved MGS4, the ending fist-fight with Ocelot was pure genius.
Infact, I loved it all.

I don't have a PS3 and have never actually played MGS4 at a game store so I have no experience, except that I downloaded the whole ending including the fist-fight from YouTube and yes, it was very genius. But Halo 3 wasn't exactly the best game either, nin fact, the best game I see was MGS3 (next up, Ocarina of Time). Really, it's a shame MGS3 died out as soon as I finally got my PS2 last year :'( - I found out MGO was cancelled and that Subsistence was no longer for sale so I was peeved ><

Anyways, was MGS4 really good or was it a waste of time, money, and the MGS logo (keep in mind, I love the previous MGS games as well as the MGAs and MPOs).

It was certainly worthwhile and while some say MGS4's story was uninspired, i say, is there a better way to explain everything in the entire series WITHOUT saying ocelot did it for the lulz?

I was comparing MGS4 to halo 3 sales wise of course, they're in different leagues, MGS4 isn't THE MGS, but it's the most pick up and play, and has some of the best easter eggs too.

Halo 3's Campaign mode was so-so, coulda been worse, coulda been better, Halo 3 Multiplayer on the otherhand, ohhhhh yeah, thats the stuff.

^ lolz, I found forge accidentally when screwing around with the H3 features.

MGS4 was said to have a trial of MGO included with it as well as some downloadable content. Is that true?

Yep, MGO is doing pretty well, the online stages are better laid out and the expansion packs add new modes, new map and new chyaracters, so it stays pretty fresh, plus did you knwo they had tournament in japan, and the winning clan won the right to a match with the developers AND they get their faces scanned and made available on MGO character customisation....

Many friends already returned mgs4, at first they were all "?!?! OMG its awesome", and now they're "eh... it really disappointed me". Guess many people NOW share my opinion of the game (but they were too blinded when it first came out, i guess)

ANy game dulls as far as the single player goes, Halo for example is massively over hyped, it took 3 games to reach what the first game should of been.

MGS4 has it's appeal through the online, and of course the most important point i must make all week is that selo being mexican, his friends likely have bad taste as well ;P

While I won't argue that halo is a piece of junk (because it is), i will argue that you don't have the right to judge that, considering you haven't beaten all the games yet, ha (yes, youtube videos don't count as 'hands on experience')
