Just finished Gurren Lagann, Yoko sure saved that series![]()
...and a hopeful new year!
ah yes, gurren lagann is awesome (and yoko is a big plus, not a series saver). You should check out the new FMA, Cross Game and Fairy Tail, walf!
I have to agree with Yon. I think gurren lagann was a bit too much... Then I wasn't much of a Kamina-fan either....Yoko's just perfect, though... O.o
What's Fairy Tail about? I've heard some good stuff about it other places as well.... As for FMA I haven't watched the old one, so again it'll have to wait. Also - I'm no fan of series longer than 26 episodes... They go on for soooo loooong.
Have to restrain myself a little, otherwise I'll end up just watching anime, and that won't do in the long run, I'm afraid...
...and a hopeful new year!
Oh well, actually, you can watch the new fm without having to watch the first one. The first one followed the manga to some point, then it took it's own route and totally diverged from the original material, whereas the new one follows the manga from start to finish making it the must see one
I agree with you about not liking looooong series( naruto, bleach, one piece, conan, prince of tennis, etc), I usually put my limit to 50 something long series ( which is the lenght I think fma will be, with a +- 20 range).
Fairy tail is pretty good, but I think gori said this one will be one of those looooooooong ones, no confirmation so far. Great characters and humor though (happy, luigi, Elsa)
Ok Fairy Tail is a typical shonen-ish serie which fits in the same category as the big 3 (Naruto/Bleach/One Piece).
As Selo mentioned, i am predicting it to be a long running serie, as the manga has well surpassed 150 chapters, without a ending in sight.
It's worth watching, but if you would like, i recommend the manga over the anime.
One thing i can inform you is that this serie started out kinda the opposite as Naruto.
As Naruto starts out with what i want to call shonen patern A (Comedical, Maincharacter a clumsy loser (aka Keitaro) who turns cool) whilest Fairy Tail starts out as shonen patern B (Maincharacter introduced as a secondary character, epic fight, powerful but as you get to know him, he'll seem less impressive).
That sounded kinda weird, with the whole patern thingie, but it's an easy way to explain the difference between standard shonen storylines. Plus if you pay attention, in most shonen serie you can actually recognize one of these 2 paterns or another 2 paterns i noticed.
As for FMA, (like Selo stated) the second serie follows the manga very very closely, whilest the first differs after a while (for example Dante doesn't exist in the manga.)
However if it really follows the manga storyline that closely (really, there are scenes in the anime which are identical to some of the manga chapter panels.) it would probably take more that 2 seasons to air it all (1 season is an average of 26 episodes, which would make 2 seasons 52 episodes)
Why? because [spoiler]FMA manga is almost reaching an end with a final epic battle, so i predict the ending to be around chapter 115, whilest the anime is around episode 32 which reaches about chapter 60 (probably chapter 55, too lazy to check).
Which means 1 episode equals about 2 chapters, and with 50 or more to go, atleast another 25 episodes are needed.
However, it is shown that the FMA brotherhood's viewer ratings arent't as high as they hoped it would be, considering the first series success. so it might be another flop with a shortened ending or even cancellation. Just hope that it won't happen.
Finally, i actually am a fan of longlasting series.
It's not that they have a better storyline (most of them are actually worse) but i'm the type of guy who can't let go. One who loves "the road to" more than the destination.
However i've dropped Naruto/Bleach anime and never started with One Piece.
But i did watch every Conan episodes made, about 550 of them excluding the 20-30 ova's and 13 movies (i've seen all of them, I AM ANIMETARD)
I've been watching Elfen Lied... Its so awesome!
It is! What a genius idea to allow remote attachment of limbs!

I tried Clannad, some shoddy writing has me stuck trying to decide if I should watch the second season (plus the second season isn't dubbed). So I guess anime watching is on hiatus since I don't have anything else to watch.
Try Regios. It's only available subbed but it's good.

I bit the bullet and started watching Clannad After Story, I'm at episode 17 or something. I can't describe it now, the best way would be to say it's a slice of life with some drama kicked in. It's extremely sad, some of it is a happy sort of sad and some is just down right depressing, and I'm watching it at the same time as a few other people I know and our discussions on it are always quiet with the expression O.O
Also started watching Angel Beats! Really funny, it's got a good goofy feel to it.

Dcmac, Angel Beats is great! Can't wait for the OVA =D
Right now I'm watching Shiki, Highschool of the dead (my favourite one of the one's I'm watching), Asobi ni iku yo (really funny and packed with action) and School Days (they say it's really sad.. ;$)
]-The Holidays Are Over, a New Era Has Begun >:]
Yeah, it'd better be good!
Right now I'm on episode 5 of Lucky Star, most of the episodes are pretty hit and miss. I'm on the last episode of Haruhi Suzumiya, but I just haven't gotten around to it, then I'll watch the movie. I'm also waiting on the second season of To Love-Ru.
I'm watching Soul Eater at the mo'. Even though the art style takes a little getting used to, it's actually very entertaining (apart from some God-awful fillers that I have to skip just because of the character that features in them).
I also need to finish Ah! My Goddess. I was watching it, but i've got a little bored of the same episode formula over and over, so have left it for a while.
i've been abusing free anime streaming service Crunchyroll and did a full day of Hayate no Gotoku, Occult Academy and Heroman so im caught up to them all.
Whats better than on a holiday with no hw or work to just get some ice cream, some chips and watch lots of anime without needing to DL it and since 2 of them arent on DVD anyway more the better.
