    DVD vs. VHS

    Think a little before answering...

and I kinda want you to watch episode 11 of James Rolfe's "You Know What's Bullshit?", before voting

DVD, the ability to chose what subtitles you want or if you want them at all is gold.

I preffer downloading movies, then watching them on my laptop. That way, they're all in one place.

As for the two options, DVDs for the most part, although I miss taping television programs at leisure (**** DVR).

VHS is nice for taping stuff but DVD totally trumps it otherwise.

What about Blu-ray? But out of those two, I choose DVD.

VHS... no wait, DVD. Uh... VHS!

it's a tough one to pick from, because even now I have more tapes than discs. The majority of my anime collection is on tape. DVD is now more easily available (BluRay isn't a mature product yet), and you can record to them, and the quality is better, but I don't have the kit to do that unless I download a show I want to see, which... rarely happens. If I want to record something, I'll use tapes, so still need kit to playback both formats.

Tbh i still use VHS to tape aswell, since i still have the equipment for it.
Well, i remembered a somewhat similar poll on another site i'm on.
It was something like, what do you use to record your tv programms.
And VHS won by 60 or 70 percent

Easy one for me, DVD, since I can actually play that. Seems to help along the handiness.

Other thing, where the hell did that guy find a dvd cover with those clips? I've never seen those O.o.

Ow and runtime, yeah they did that on VHS boxes too you know, also in minutes. Atleast here. Only thing I completely agree with is, region numbers/settings/bullshit.

If I buy something, I want to be able to use it all around the world.

Good thing pc games don't have that and I mostly download those anyway. I recently bought some games again, but they were worth it and then I'd even be willing to pay more then they're worth (still got them quite cheap )

Well, aside from the fact that Blue-Ray is superior to the technology behind VHS, DVD and HD-DVD. They still put the same bullshit on it. The logo's, the info, the package, the menu.. so not really necessary to mention in this poll

DVDs are automatic win, though I do like using the VCR from time to time for nostalgia's sake. Ah, The Brave Little Toaster...

DVDs, if nothing else I can stack like 3 DVD covers in the space of one VHS, not to mention if I decide to skip the covers Also - we're kind of living in a digital era, some would say.
    ...and a hopeful new year!

old thread is old I'm happy to say I've still not watched a Blu-Ray film, so my opinion hasn't changed and is actually relevant to the poll
