The only variety of gummy worms I am really familiar with is Minifani by Finnish Fazer company. Worms are bigger and usually feel nicer to chew than bears.
Gummy bears come in more varieties here. The worst ones are hard to begin with, and just do not taste good. I do not remember the name of the best brand right now, but that is the definition of how delicious gummy sweets should be.
Playing with food? I recall how me and my best friend, way back, played with Star Wars action figures and used gummy worms as small slime monsters (or something like that; the point was that they attacked, got shot with blasters, and then got eaten by us).

either way, armies would be very stickyWorms as mini-armies have quite the precedent, albeit in a slightly less adhesive format. The Worms computer games make it very tough for me to pick any winner other than the wriggly ones in a war between the two opposing forces.
However, for preference, I'd go with gummy bears. After all, they're chewy, less fiddly to eat, you get more to the handful (always good) and they've had a better television series
I might consider doing it, only thing id have a tough time is keeping the stuff away from the young ones
