That depends really, if a cover gives out the wrong impression the whole book is ruined. Its not about making it pretty, but more like making it appealing to the story and connecting it in a way.

Welll Ture Ultimatly The Book Is More Important Than The Cover But The Cover Helps You To Notic Eit.
"I hear that neither you and your men have neither state nor ideology - that you will fight any foe.
An army without a state..."
Agreed, but a lot of the time people are misled or judged a book wrongly by its cover, thats why its important to make the cover stay true to the content.
True, a cover that doesn't mislead you but catches your eye regardless
"I hear that neither you and your men have neither state nor ideology - that you will fight any foe.
An army without a state..."
that it does indeed, esp. for manga and graphic novels in general
So in genreal tough i Don't JUDGE the book by it's cover but there are other things it can accheive
"I hear that neither you and your men have neither state nor ideology - that you will fight any foe.
An army without a state..."
For me the cover is important because it's what usually attracts someone's attention. It doesn't go beyond that though, i won't buy or comment a book positively just because the cover has some nice pictures. Overall, the cover is important for a first impression, but after that i'd stick to the actual content.
One day, God loomed over His Earth and proclaimed, for the whole world to hear: "Let there be a single, faultless speck of light on this plane; One which will happily glint undisturbed forevermore...", and as His strained voice echoed throughout the entire Universe, He uttered just one last sentence, decisive and final:
"Let there be NODOKA!"
The proud 3rd in command of the glorious, immaculate and awe-inspiring
