Thread: Strike Witches 442nd Air Wing [RP]

" I understand zhe attitude, my fazher shared it. But ve all know zhat zhose old men cant do it zhemselves, zo it is oujr job." she said with a chuckle.

SHe stood.

"vell, shall ve go check out ze improvements Hans made to my striker unit?" she offered, more interested in getting airborne then ground checks.

Jean Elysse was in her room. Snoring loudly with a half-empty bottle of booze by her bed. The action left her tired, and she downed the drink, went to bed.

Karin stepped up the the rack that held her strikers. The Magic doublers were apparent as the cooling vents were rather large.

She strapped in, and powered up. the release clamps let go and she was halfway down the runway and lifting off. she switched to jets at this point and noted it's smooth transition, and the lesser power demands she felt. It also seemed that Hans had given each engine a tune up, as they were running fairly smooth.

She went into a series of tight rolls and aerial dodges and evades, trying to get the engines to flame out. they didn't, as expected from hans work.

She circled the base at maximum speed, and spying the barraks, came in as low as possible, and buzzed it, shaking the building and blowing a few shingles off the roof.

She chuckled aloud, surely she had the whole place in an uproar. But she didn't care. She coasted in, and racked up her strikers.

She would see if any of the others were as friendly as Frauline Campbell.

She walked into the rec room of the barracks, and sat down on the couch y the radio, looking to spark up conversation with the others.

before long, the female CO was storming around the barraks to find out who did the unauthoried flyby. eventually she simply called the entirety of hte 422nd air wing into her office.

after perhaps 30 minutes of yelling and lecutring the CO told them all to return to thier duties.

Karin held her visage dispite her urge to burst out laughing as she took the verbal lashing. This was the first time she haden't feared for her life while being scolded.

It was refreshing.

She lingered in the CO's office afterward, and when the Commanding officer noticed her still there, she turned around silently.

"Commandant, My name iz Karin Fittel. I am avare zat zee pozition for a zubcommander iz not yet....filled. I feel obligated to inform you of my promotion wif ze Karlsland Luftwaffe, to Ubercommander. Zis Promotion does not come lightly to members of zee Luftwaffe. "

she waited for the Commnder's response.

"I understand you're interest in advancing yourself, however, i am uncertain." the CO answered. "you are a talented pilot, and i'd hate to see the other members of your team look at you as one to follow, rather than one to fight with. give me some time to consider this. oh, and we're scheduled to be recieving another pilot. i'll be required to fill out a formal berthing assignment before she and the recently arrived girl, Ms Campbell get too deeply settled.

The Witch stood at attention and saluted,"Underztood" she said.

She turned on a dime as was the rtual of the Luftwaffe, and walked out. She went to her room, Where Hans awaited her.

"Karin you were reckless today, had you missed your mark on tht flyby we may well hve been sending you home in peices" he stated in Karlsan Matter of factly.

"You know more than anyone my piloting precison is unmatched in the luftwaffe." Karin returned in like tounge

"But even the brightest star eventually falls. You should be extra cautios, you remember Emma Rictofen?" Hans said

"Who could forget. What a shame." Karin said contemplatingly.

For the umpteenth time in days, Erica cursed her luck. It wasn't even as if she wanted to be here. Well, that wasn't quite right. She didn't want to be here. She'd stood firm, set her stance, and balled her fists. She'd argued. The thing was, the captain was right. His ship, his rules: the souls on his vessel were more important to him than any mere machinery, no matter how good a pilot she thought she was, Erica's striker unit was not to travel on the same ship. The angry girl could see the logic in that. Should the ship hit trouble, both she and the weapon might be lost, and that would not be good for the war effort. Getting angry and setting their chins always worked for her brothers, and the upshot of it was, that while she was sitting sulking in a boat she didn't trust getting shot at by the Neuroi above, not far from Urashima Bay, her equipment had arrived before she had. It was separate from her, useless in its mounts somewhere in the base already. She would have been able to help, she knew it. As it was, Erica had missed her first action with her new unit, however close she'd been to the fight.

The base looked as though it had just seen action, with many hands tidying and wheeling weaponry around. Erica had missed her chance at a first sortie with her new squadron.

Clearance sorted, the guard at the gate let Erica and her escort through. Looking round, the girl had to admit the place was huge, far more lavishly decorated than she would have ever expected. That was before they rounded the main 'mansion building', which she assumed was the hangar. A disguise might not help much from the air. Then her heart soared. That was more like it. The barracks were more her style: deprivation and hard living. This would make her a better pilot, too much comfort felt like "letting the side down". Package safely delivered, Erica's escort went back to the main gate.

Erica walked across the gravel yard, tested the doors, found they were unlocked, and entered the building. Cheesy as it may be, the only way to announce her arrival was with a querulous...

"...hallo?"

Haley poked her head out of her open door to see a new girl in the hallway. shifting from her sitting position to stand, she cradled the open weapon she'd been vigourously scrubbing. her hands were black and there seemed to be an errant smudge of carbon dust on her nose. she walked over to the newer girl, attempting to wave, but almost dropping the weapon on the process.

"Hehe, sorry, hi. I'm Haley. who're you?"

haley motioned with her head to follow, and began walking to her room.

"you might wanna be careful when talking around here. the walls are thin and there are night flyers. PISSY night flyers"

Karin took note of the new girl with more than a passing interest. Of course, that was the way she treated everyone, sizing them up before even speaking to them. she new she was brittanian, that was certain, and she was definatly stronger than she looked, likely by her upbrining, but most importantly, she reminded her of someone from the old days flying with the standard Luftwaffe....but who?

She moved to the doorway of the girl's room, and stood there silently until she turned around.

"I am Karin Kittel, Uberkommander dursch tittel off zi Karlsland Luftwaffe," Karin respectfully bowed, "I am pleazed to make yours aquaintence" Karin said in her still broken english.

Haley raised her eyebrow and (rather poorly) supressed a snort of distaste and shook her head in disbelief.

"Word of advice, try a little harder on yer nice girl image before ordering others around." Haley turned and waved non-directionally. "you can room with me if you like, there's a free bunk in with me, lemme just move my weapon parts off yer bed."

Karin smiled. She liked her already. She had the Brittanian attitude, dainty, yet stubborn, and definatly feeling entitled. She watched Miss Campbell show distaste, and chuckled, drawing a hard look from her. She simply shrugged, and exited, letting her ornate weapon swing around and tap the bedpost of the rapidly vacating bed. It's ring signaled her departure.

"I like the new girl" she said in karlsan to Hans, " she reminds me of Frauline Ottille"

"The cook?" he said quizically

"Well, she has the same attitude about life, i like her."

(note: I'm waiting for more action here or a logical way to take the story.)

"And here I was thinkin' that Liberion girls were easy going. I'll lug my own bag, thanks", Erica chuckled, as she hefted her bag. "Ugh... I don't want to intrude, but if there's a bed free I'll just set up there and be done for a while. That journey's took the wind out of my sails. I'll need a tour, if any of you girls are free. Want to find out where my wings are stowed. Oh, and who'd I report to around here?" she said, throwing her sack in Haley's doorway with a thump.

The CO was performing a general inspection down the hall from the chatter. It was nothing official, just a survey of who and what lived and belonged where. The witches were allowed any number of flexibility, seeing as they were still basically children. the CO caught sight of the new arrival and welcomed her by extending a hand.

"I do hope that you're every bit as good as your profile states. by the way, Ms Kittel, Ms campbell, there is a shipment convoy making its way around the pinensula in three days. i'll need you to run escort."

"Unterztood Commandant, I vill ivorm Hans as vell" she said with a customary luftwaffe salute shifting prefectly into a fusoan bow of respect.

She went to her room and began to disassemble her gun and meticulously clean the weapon.

"Hans iz my brozher and mecanic, he came wif my ztriker. He iz a genius you zee. part of zhe dezign team for zhe Karlsan Ztriker divizion of Messerschmit" she said, adding solemnly, "and zhe only family i have left"

She shook her head to clear the sadness.

"Perhaps ve can zee if improvements can be made to your Ztriker later, after ze mission."

'For a first impression with command, that could have probably gone a whole lot better.'

So, your brother came with your Striker? I didn't think that was how these things normally went! Eheheh... sorry."

"I'd like you to have a look at it, but I doubt you could improve it. The test flights I've flown have been more than perfect, Karin. So... who's going to show me round? Or does it take three days to prepare for a mission?"
