    Wimbledon

I'm surprised that no one made this thread before me.
Maybe not my favorite tennis tournament, it is the most prestigious one.
I especially enjoy this years Wimbledon.
Main reason: Lleyton Hewitt (my alltime favorite) reached the Quarter Finals and seems in topform

For the ones who doesn't know, it has reached the quarterfinals atm and the remaining players are:

    Lleyton Hewitt vs. Andy Roddick
Andy Murray vs. Juan Carlos Ferrero
    Tommy Haas vs. Novak Djokovic
    Ivo Karlovic vs. Roger Federer

    Dinara Safina vs. Sabine Lisicki
    Venus Williams vs. Aqnieszka Radwanska
    Francesca Schiavone vs. Elena Dementieva
    Victoria Azarenka vs. Serena Williams

I'm rooting for Lleyton Hewitt and Elena Dementieva
But i think Federer and Serena will win

I reckon Murray could have a good stab at getting past the quarters this time, at least. I can see a Federer in the Mens final, with either Murray or Roddick for company.

In the Womens, the Russians are all well and good, but I cannot see beyond an all-Williams final. They seem to do so well at this place Venus to win it, methinks.

well, it's come through... Serena had a tough time but triumphed magnificently, Venus breezed through her embarrassing encounter with "the world number one".

    All Williams final!

I'd like to see a Haas/Murray final, but can't see past Federer getting through.

Both my favorites are out of the game.
Hewitt vs. Roddick was such a beautiful match.
Hmm tbh i can't see past Federer aswell, but he is the greatest (for now?)

Williams finals again huh, hmm really hoped for Dementieva there.
Well, what about it Hina, wanna bet on the finals?
    I'll bet on Serena

Well Serena won, was an ok match, the crowd wasn't in it and the gals, well there wasn't much emotions either so.. Hope the mens final will be a bit more exciting.

there were a couple of passages of brilliant tennis, and the way Venus staved off two match points was awesome. I thought though that once that first set tiebreaker was over and the set Venus served first on was gone from her, that she kind of lost confidence. Didn't give up, but wasn't playing the way she could have done.

Serena is a worthy Wimbledon champion, just hard for me to see how she'd not won the thing since 2002

I'm on a bit of a losing run at the minute, huh?

Haha, although i had to work and missed the finals, i'm happy Serena won
Uhm hina, thnx for the bet, you really are on a losing streak.
No point betting for the mens finals, since we both would vote for Federer.

Hmm i do feel sorry for hina , wanna change my name for a month anyway?

eh, I didn't win, and they weren't the terms of the bet If I'd wanted to cheat I'd have changed your name already, but thank you anyway

Fed won, but only after the longest ever recorded men's finals match at Wimbledon! Perhaps not up to the epic standard of last year's bout between Federer and Nadal, but Roddick played a stormer out there.

    5-7 7-6 (8-6) 7-6 (7-5) 3-6 16-14

Yeah it was an awesome match between Federer and Roddick, it wasn't the longest in terms of time, but in games i believe it was. Was really something to watch, see who'd break.. i started watching the match at 5-5 in the first set.. was kinda happy in the end, i could start doing other stuff.. lol

wasn't quite the epicness of last year. I'm not sure it had quite the sense of occasion. Last year you could sense that someone'd finally be able to beat Federer at Wimbledon.

Well after 4 sets, only Roddick had broken serv, twice at that, and with a fifth set that can't go in tie-break, i thought he had a pretty good chance lol

I'm not saying Roddick didn't play well. Just that the build-up to last year was so much hotter because people genuinely thought Nadal had the beating of Federer. This year, even though Roddick played his heart out in the final and served to stay in the match an incredible 10 times, there wasn't that same impetus before the final match. During is entirely another matter

who else thinks the gold "15" jacket was tacky, tasteless and an insult to Andy Roddick?

    {{new balls please}}

2010 has provided plenty of shocks. The mammoth marathon match between John Isner and Nicolas Mahut. The return of Kournikova & Hingis (veteran's tournament!). No Englishmen in the men's draw AT ALL! And the exit of Roger Federer before the semi-finals, which just doesn't happen...

The only thing that would top this, at least in Britain, would be if Andy Murray won O_o He's in the semis now, but he's got Rafa Nadal to play in this round... be a toughie!

Well, I don't really watch or even care much for tennis, but at times I just feel like I've missed something...

This is Tsvetana Pironkova celebrating the victory over Venus Williams in a manner I can approve of
    ...and a hopeful new year!
