    Google Chrome

Seems google is entering the browser world. Im trying it out at the moment, seems nice enough, although the rendering engine does need some work. Have any of you tried it yet? if so, thoughts?

Its a good first effort, and will keep Micro$oft at bay in certain areas, but Chrome has very troublesome default settings for privacy, or lack of it:

Google's Omnibox could be Pandora's box

I don't want Google to have all that info, and most people will fire it up and use it at the defaults. The EULA follows the same trend too:

Be sure to read Chrome's fine print

but people ignore it too. I think overall this is good, its not perfect but it will keep pressure on Redmond, and keep improvements flowing from Firefox too.

    Restart and reboot yourself.

Indeed, theres the whole privacy thing, and how it stores all you type on the bar . Privacy issues aside though, it is pretty neat and has cool features and apparently benchmarks indicate its the fastest on the market

True enough, the JavaScript performance is impressive and will keep M$ Silverlight at bay for adoption, at least I think so...

It's got potential, I'll give it that

Only gripes I've got with it is that the up direction on the scrollpad doesn't work, some pages have details out of place, and the fact that there's no add-ons yet

But so far, things look good

    I find it cute

It's fun... But I prefer Firefox

The thing I hate about google, though, is most of their products take a reeaaaaallllyyyy long time to get out of Beta Phase (Remember GMail? Still in Beta up to now ), and I don't really trust Beta software enough to use them on a regular basis <_<

its beta in the sense that they're still adding things Pepe, not in the sense that they're overly unstable

not tested yet, as I've not been on my Windows comp for a while, but will be looking at it soonish ^_^

Beta, Pepe, is a good thing for a software to be in means it's always looking at being improved. Ideally, things will never strictly go out of beta, because they are always being developed and refined

But calling it "beta" makes it sound like it's incomplete <_<

I dunno, guess I just have an OCD with that sort of thing

(That, and from my experience, Beta products take up more RAM.. Which is a thing that I value very highly [try using a computer with 128MB RAM])

that's a good thing Software should always be complete. Things can always be added to improve it, or, if they can't right now, look to in the future

That's generally because half the people who have switched to chrome don't know how to delete cookies and temporary internet files. Give it a few weeks before they start whining that chrome is getting slower. The fact that the browser takes up more than 60% of the physical memory and is regarded by several programs to be a virus should be made irrelevant just because it's by the same company that provides you with hentai in the google image search

tbh, I just think chrome is pointless. Half of the features are literally copy-pasta'd from the firefox source. Luckily Google is an advertising company so the browser will keep all of your personal data safe.

well chrome is out of BETA now, I like it, to hell with my privacy to bad it doesn't include add ons yet.but I use at a regular basis especailly on my Eee where ff would take minutes and minutes to lead and chrome a mere second
love is like a rose, beautifull when you let it blossem, but it will sting if you don't treat it carefully

I've used Chrome for a while now, and am very pleased with it's performance.

It's a lot faster than Internet explorer and some stylish effects and transitions.

My only gripe is the problem with downloads. Sometimes certain files won't download properly unless I use a different browser. Other than that, though, it runs very well and does what I want it to.

Firefox seems to do what I want to do in a web browser so I'm sticking with that til Chrome comes out for Mac

Dude, using DOS to ping sites is faster than using IE.
