In the winter: cold and dark
In the summer: Still pretty cold, but at least you could see stuff.

It's a small memento from some of the Finish soldiers I met during the Cold Response NATO exercise. I'll give you a summary in ScBr if you fancy it.

Troms fylke, cold? Heck no. Troms fylke is cool. (Except that they have Norwegian cuisine.)

Hm, this is the first time when I really face the fact that my "neutral" country is cooperating with NATO.

I have not heard of any joint exercises with Warsaw Pact countries back in the days when Finland was forced into closer cooperation with the U.S.S.R.

I tend to speak with an accent resembling (probably New England) American, simply because it feels easier; principally, I have no clear preference. You will be added to the list of people who should be addressed in British.

You will note I'm not surprised in the least to find out you have such a list

Yes, you two are probably the worst for it, taking over the Box at times with your weird invader languages But stepping into the Kalmar Union board is difficult. I sometimes wonder what the hell you lot are doing in there

    nice beating heart gif there

I am most ashamed to admit that the list in question has only existed in my head.

So far, it has been enough to look at people's flags. Voilà, the updated list makes its worldwide premiere in written form:

    * those bearing a Union Jack
    * those bearing any other British flag, i.e. a St George's Cross
    * those bearing a flag of Ireland (I believe trying to use Received Pronunciation is still more logical than trying to use American English when communicating with Irishmen)
    * Wålf-kun, who has partially British roots
    * Flashman, who clearly appreciates the British background of his nation

I beg to differ regarding the temprature, and not knowing clearly how to define "Norwegian cuisine" as I haven't seen a single lutefisk and more pizza and hamburgers than kjøttkaker and torsk during the last year I think we'll have a difference of opinions there as well

I really don't know how long or how deep this cooperation runs, but a quick check on the internet reveals Finnish troops participating in different international NATO operations such as KFOR and ISAF. From what I understood during the Cold Response Finnish soldiers abroad shall never partake in offensive operations but mainly act as a security force.

Article from this year's CR: Forsvaret.no | No one gets past the Finnish line
General information about the scenario (if you wonder why you've never heard of the Finnish enemy Northland before): Forsvaret.no | Facts

I don't really know very much about Finnish military history, but I've never heard of any joint Soviet/Warsaw Pact and Finnish exercises either.

What I do note with a smile these days is the Chinese efforts to hold joint military exercises with countries such as Russia and Mongolia to encourage military cooperation. But that's another story, I guess

Some would maybe even suggest this to be the original purpose of the ScBr. Such claims are, of course, untrue

Thank you, I'd say someone should add a heart smiley to the AnimeB list as well Needs more love on here!

As for American English vs. British English I don't really care too much either, although I do try to stick with the BrE. spelling (generally because that's what I was thought in school and I think American spelling just looks plain wrong at times). From my part it was mostly meant as a reference to the Tiny Plaid Ninjas Flash Video.

I'll have to second Hina on you having such a list not being too large of a surprise.

Some on here have indeed long held this to be the purpose of the Brigade... I wouldn't infer such a thing, though. We'll have to wait for the Viking takeover to be sure

Yep, officially something like that. My country's version of the Partnership for Peace.

A sweet British spelling for the past tense of teach. The vid was new to me, and the Argyle Ninja's theme was t3h c00l.
