Godt at se dig tilbage, og i live martin![]()
After some 11 months in the cold North, I'm finally done with my service in the Army
I'll try to resume at least some of my old activity here, but can't promise anything much. First off it's summer vacation meaning less computer time, then I'll start studying in the autumn.
Hope to have more fun with you guys, and to the new ones; Hi there, I'm wålf, I'm from Norway and I luvz Azumanga Daioh.
See you around!

Welcome Back Walf! I'm sure you'll have a blast like you used to!
Some people wish to get what they deserve, while others fear the same.
"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's first law of equivalent exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one and only truth." -Alphonse Elric
Hey welcome back mr walf! Did you bring anymore jensen pics!?
Welcome back... eller skulle man sige "velkommen tilbage"![]()
Thanks for all the welcome backs.
endangered and preserved species, you know! Should be thankful for the two of us! Seems I've managed to scare the old alpha male away anyway, thus leaving only me
As for the letter it merely says that I've finished one year mandatory military service in the Norwegian Army, and thus are rewarded "Vernedyktighetsmedaljen" (sounds better in Norwegian, but something like "Medal of capability to protect" (the motherland, of course)) Just a formal sign that I'm done, really. Has a really cool paragraph stating "The General Inspector of the Norwegian Army thanks You for Your effort to keep peace and freedom", though. The language seems kind of stiff and weird in Norwegian, and I really don't want to venture any further in translating it.
Many pictures of Jensen, Selo, tucked away safely on a hard disk some [insert distance between Mexico and Norway here] away from you
Det føles godt å være tilbake, dansker! Nå var det vel på tide av ScBr får litt mer oppmerksomhet på dette forumet, eller hva??
EDIT; I thought I'd save the unnecessary trouble and space of creating another thread; I'll be leaving for a trip tomorrow and won't be back for about 2 weeks. Wish you all a jolly good time in the meanwhile!

Hm, I missed your short presence due to my own various summer activities, Mr. Wålf.
I have tried browsing through your recent posts, but found no clue as to your current user title. Thank you for honoring my beloved home country, anyway. Explain the details upon your return.
(Tulevaisuuden varalle: Wålf-kunin arvonimenä oli "Releasable to Finland as Luottamuksellinen".)

I thought I had already heard the weirdest stories about translating tools. I was wrong.
Even the -kunin > kingdom translation is some kind of attempt towards making sense, but Finland > Canada sounds like this sketch comedy we had in the nineties: anybody and everybody taking part in a quiz would answer, "Canada!" if asked any question.

yeah, I remember that![]()
I've been struck by many a translating tool foul-up when trying to decode what people have been saying on here (yes, you - wålf and Silas!) and know enough to not take their efforts as gospel, but you can usually get an idea of what was meant. In this case, I'm baffled
Is there a "Finland" in Finnish?![]()
You mean, a word with the same spelling and an entirely different meaning? Definitely not.
Of course it is common knowledge that Fin(n)land(e) is the word for 'Suomi' in numerous languages, so somebody might argue that Finland is a Finnish word in the same sense as Latin ad infinitum is an English expression. (Hmm, I think I would not.)
