We don't drag people into to 'English Club' whenever they walk through the door.

Brits aren't very patriotic though, by and large

we bloody well are. It's just seen as "politically incorrect" to be proud of your nation and your flag. Might be a conversation for another thread, but I'm as proud to wave the flag as anyone.

*hinarei waves the Three Lions flag wildly!

    ...wait. That didn't work.

Wow, this thread is still alive? Havent been able to log in as I visited England from thursday to sunday. Was possitively suprised about the weather! Expected zero degrees and constant raining, but no, it was 10-12 and not a single drop of rain in London! And almost all the people were so polite, might consider moving there...

it is still alive, ayup. People are unused to a talking dog wearing a hat. A myuuing flying turtle, sure, but a talking dog? Woah.

well, temp has dropped now. We're even getting some snow today Will go to -2ºC tonight, apparently...

Did you travel on the Tube? If so you would certainly not have met anyone who's polite, especially not the station staff

I always seem to enjoy the intimacy...

And I know I'm kind of late, but being one of them evil ScBr recruitment-thugs I can't pass on welcoming a Swedish guy

So, welcome to the forum garluch, hope you'll have a fun time and that you'll stay relatively un-groped even though the English seem to frequent the place :O

    Velkommen
    ...and a hopeful new year!

Depends on who the intimacy is with. If it's a sweaty businessman who just will not fit into the carriage but has shoehorned his ample frame in regardless, or one of the amazing number of stinking down-and-outs who insist on singing (if you can call it singing) a few bars of some folk song and then expecting to get paid when they rattle a tin at you on their way through the car, stepping heavily on every foot they encounter as they go, well you can blow that for intimacy... [/rant]

I don't see why it has to be a problem though. we were once huge, important and brilliant. Why not celebrate it? All we're bloody left with is a handful of self-governing little islands who give us nothing but we have to protect in cases of war, another handful of uninhabited islands, a bit of the Antarctic and more seething resentment than we can handle
