    I go with subcriptions if it's something I'm interested. That way I get an email stating if someone new has posted in that thread since the last time I had the browser open and connected to the net. I always get notifications. The actual thread stuff though I can usually remember when I've read it.

    Try closing all the internet windows and temporarily disconect the net. That might work. Though I don't know because I've never really paid attention to the new posts thing. So I don't know if that'll help.

    Oh wait I just re-read your statement. Umm that's a board setting. Nothing we have any control over. You might want to talk to style, and if not style try hina though he doesn't quite no as much as style-sama. Mainly because Style owns the forum and hina is only an admin. No offence to Hina-tama meant there.

    Ah cool. Yeah I don't like Kentaro either. I did give up I gave up on the dream of living in a house full of pretty girls long ago sadly. Love Hina filled me with false hope when I was growing up XD

    Hom. Well, as I said, world creation is a pet project of mine. I've been spending a good bit of time building the setting of a series of science fiction stories I've been working on -- ironically while also doing readings in Old English to bolster another tale, set in medieval times. Talk about going in two directions at once! In the mean time, if you want to see something that's FINISHED, have a look at "Motoko's Secret" over in the Fan fiction section under Creative Corner. I greatly respect you and your opinions, and would very much like to know what you think.

    As for Strike Witches, I keep hearing about it, but haven't got to look at anything for it yet, though I think I'll head on over and peruse what you mentioned. I have this pile of shows I want to watch, and one of these days, sooner than later, I hope, I'm going to sit down and just binge on watching and reading, and probably not sleep for 24 hours, but it will be worth it

    Interesting is one way of putting it, yes Glad to give you food for thought, Kata. I saw the "Learn Finnish" thread, but couldn't bring myself to face the Vikings in the Brigade as yet

    Well, its up and working now, which of course you know. Great thread. May I ask what inspired it? It just gave me that impression, that you'd been ruminating on something for a while, not unlink an Ent, perhaps. Hoom . . . hom . . .

    Month names hold a mystery for us to unlock? Tell me more!

    ah yeah... viikko I see that now That's something you can at least guess at then. Anything including a -woch or something that sounds like 'week' is probably Wednesday. Should have seen that :/

    I'm not going to look at that page unless I'm really stuck. I can follow Finnish days of the week fairly well (stretched slightly to the limits of pronunciation, I can see many similarities between some of the weekday names, and that's really not all that surprising ), but won't learn 'em unless I've got a reference. I'll force myself not to look at it though ^_^

    Maanantai = Monday
    Tiistai = Tuesday
    ...but I'm baffled by Wednesday.

    Quick question, are you Katajamarjan on danbooru?

    sad news indeed! Hope you're feeling better after a night's sleep. I personally slept like a log last night, so I've woken up drowsy with a bit of a heavy head, but feel so much more rested because of it

    Any idea what's caused your discomfort?

    No-one's sent me a PM sine the upgrade and I really want one!

    Argh! I tried to reply to your thread, and Mutsumi keeps telling me it doesn't exist. Curse you, turtle girl!

The evening was rainy and cold. Morio Sekigawa had just missed a bus after a long day.

After having entered, Morio smiled and took a deep breath. This little inn was not very far from his current workplace, but in a direction where he did not usually venture. This was his first time inside, and boy, he could feel the pleasure of grabbing a hot drink in advance!

He bought his drink at the counter and went on looking for a place to sit down. There were not so many customers,

Does anyone remember who I am?

Recommended background music: "Last Train to Trancentral" by The KLF and "What Does Your Soul Look Like (Part 2)" by DJ Shadow.

Does Juniper the Justified Ancient ring any bell? Right now I am feeling a little more ancient than back then, but not nearly as justified. Not on AnimeB, anyway.

A year and a half ago, I announced my plan to save "Juniper Berries III" by simplifying it. None of it

I have had very little time for discussion forum activities lately, here or elsewhere. This sucks, because I had really gotten used to listing and reviewing comics I had read (and for a number of other reasons, but I would love to stay on topic here). My next attempt is to revive the listings in a compressed form, using the ratings system I created for a similar purpose in October 2008 (AnimeB: "List All the Manga You Have Read"). It goes like this:

E - epic
C - captivating

I Need to Return Them

by Katajainen on 22 May 2012 at 1:33 am
Today I finally took the time to finish reading "Mämmilä: Kiinalainen juttu. Sarjakuvia Suomesta" by Tarmo Koivisto (ISBN 978-951-1-22917-9). I am afraid the comic is not available in English except for some short exemplary passages, such as "Room for Youth" (included in "Finnish comics annual. 2012", ISBN 978-952-5724-41-7, a compilation I only know by reputation).

"Mämmilä" (original run from 1976 through 1996, plus one album in 2002 and the

Miscellanea 2012

by Katajainen on 12 Jan 2012 at 11:48 am
Last night I watched "Gelato (Ice Cream)", the sixth episode of the first season of the "Gunslinger Girl" anime. GG is one of the best Japanese animated series I have seen so far: slow-paced when it comes to plot, but amazingly atmosphere-intensive.

On the 29th of December last year, I bought a few used comics albums, including the three volumes of "Le Monde d'Edena" by Moebius that were translated into Finnish as "Moebius: Jean Giraudin kootut fantasiat"
