He's only doing what he thinks is right, you know

He gets a lot of pressure from all sides for change, and it doesn't come easy too him. I know it's hard to take when you lose a job like this when you don't really deserve to, but it's hard on him too, and criticism he sees as unfounded or uncalled for doesn't help. Must be that, cos you know he doesn't normally ban people like that for passing comments.
